Cool Index™ · The Mavrick Standard

How Cool
Are You, Really?

A Cool Assessment graded against the standards of a man who once wore sunglasses indoors to look untouchable and walked straight into a sliding glass door. He bowed slightly, like it was performance art.

This will not help you. That's why it works.

The Cool Index measures one narrow thing: whether your signal holds when the room stops flattering you. Anyone looks composed in good lighting with a drink in their hand. The question is what's left when the lighting goes, the drink is empty, and someone asks you a sincere question you didn't rehearse for.

Twelve questions. No right answers, though you'll suspect otherwise and start performing for the form — which the instrument is counting on, and counting against you. Answer honestly. If you lie to a questionnaire, what else are you lying to. Just wondering.

Real coolness is a trap designed to keep people far enough away that no one realizes you're unraveling. — Philbert T. Upton, Founding Partner, Panopticon Agency

Score first. Commentary second. The commentary is Brand's. The math doesn't care how you feel about it.
